Transform Your Smile with Veneers

Veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment offered at Vlass & Merritt Dental Care to enhance the appearance of your smile. These thin, porcelain shells are custom-crafted to cover the front surface of your teeth, masking imperfections such as discoloration, chips, and gaps, while providing a natural-looking and durable solution for a radiant smile.

Veneers FAQ's

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells made of tooth-colored materials, such as porcelain or composite resin, that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are commonly used to correct teeth that are discolored, chipped, worn down, uneven, or irregularly shaped, providing a natural-looking and durable solution for cosmetic dental concerns.

The process of getting veneers typically involves multiple steps. First, the dentist will prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of enamel from the front surface to accommodate the thickness of the veneers. Then, impressions of the teeth are taken, and custom veneers are fabricated in a dental laboratory. During a subsequent appointment, the veneers are bonded to the teeth using a special adhesive, and final adjustments are made to ensure proper fit and aesthetics.

Veneers offer several benefits, including the ability to conceal various cosmetic imperfections such as stains, chips, cracks, gaps, and misaligned teeth. They provide a durable and stain-resistant solution that can enhance the appearance of the smile, improve self-confidence, and create a more symmetrical and harmonious dental aesthetic. Veneers are also minimally invasive compared to other cosmetic dental treatments and require little to no anesthesia.

The lifespan of veneers depends on various factors, including the type of material used, oral hygiene practices, diet, and habits such as teeth grinding or clenching. Porcelain veneers are known for their durability and can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or longer with proper care. Composite resin veneers may have a shorter lifespan, typically lasting 5 to 7 years before requiring replacement or refurbishment.

Unlike natural teeth, veneers cannot be whitened with traditional teeth whitening treatments. However, maintaining good oral hygiene practices and avoiding staining foods and beverages can help preserve the appearance of veneers over time. If the color of veneers becomes noticeably discolored or stained, replacement may be necessary to restore their natural appearance.
