Invisalign FAQ's

Invisalign offers several advantages over traditional braces, including:

  • Discreet: The clear aligners are nearly invisible, so most people won’t even know you’re undergoing treatment.
  • Comfortable: The smooth plastic trays are comfortable to wear and won’t irritate your gums or cheeks like metal brackets and wires can.
  • Removable: You can remove the aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, allowing for better oral hygiene and dietary freedom.
  • Fewer appointments: Invisalign® typically requires fewer adjustments compared to traditional braces.

Invisalign is a great option for many adults and teens seeking straighter teeth. During a consultation, Dr. Merritt will evaluate your teeth and jaw alignment to determine if Invisalign is the right choice for you.

The length of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the complexity of your case. However, it’s typically faster than traditional braces, ranging from 6 months to 2 years.

The cost of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the individual case. During your consultation, we will discuss the cost of treatment and available payment options. We also accept most dental insurance plans, and our team can help you determine your coverage.

Contact our office immediately if you lose an aligner. We can discuss options, which may include moving to the next aligner sooner than planned or having a replacement aligner made.

You will typically need to visit our office every 6-8 weeks to monitor your progress and receive new aligner sets.

You may experience mild discomfort when you switch to a new aligner set as your teeth begin to shift. This discomfort is temporary and usually subsides within a few days.

Brush and floss your teeth before reinserting your aligners. Clean your aligners with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or hot water, which can damage the aligners.

Yes, you can remove your aligners for eating and drinking. However, you should only drink water while wearing your aligners.

To maintain your new smile, Dr. Merritt may recommend wearing a retainer for a period of time.
