Oral Hygiene FAQ's

Oral hygiene refers to the practice of maintaining the cleanliness of the mouth, teeth, gums, and tongue to prevent dental problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. Good oral hygiene habits include brushing teeth regularly, flossing daily, using mouthwash, and visiting the dentist for routine check-ups and cleanings.

Oral hygiene is essential for maintaining overall oral health and preventing dental problems. Proper oral hygiene helps remove plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that forms on the teeth and gums, preventing tooth decay and gum disease. It also helps prevent bad breath, staining, and other oral health issues that can impact a person’s quality of life.

A good oral hygiene routine includes brushing teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily to remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth, using mouthwash to freshen breath and reduce bacteria, and visiting the dentist regularly for professional cleanings and check-ups. Additionally, consuming a balanced diet low in sugary and acidic foods and beverages can help maintain oral health.

It is recommended to brush teeth at least twice a day, preferably after meals, using fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Additionally, flossing should be done once a day to remove plaque and debris from between the teeth and along the gum line. Brushing and flossing regularly help prevent the buildup of plaque and reduce the risk of cavities and gum disease.

To brush your teeth effectively, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums and brush in gentle, circular motions, covering all surfaces of the teeth, including the front, back, and chewing surfaces. Be sure to brush the tongue and roof of the mouth as well to remove bacteria and freshen breath.
